Who is Rhett?
Meet Rhett, now celebrating his 76th year as the mascot of the Boston University Terriers.
In 1922, Boston University students selected the Boston Terrier as their football mascot after the sport received official University recognition in 1917. The Terrier is one of the few dogs actually bred in the United States. Interestingly, it was in 1869--the year Boston University was chartered--that a Boston dog-breeder crossed an English Terrier with a bulldog and came up with the Boston Terrier.
Watch for Rhett at sporting events and at other University special events.
